The original 19th century cottage had been renovated and extended in the 1990s. We were commissioned to design and carry out extensive alterations to make the existing house and entire property part M compliant. The new open plan living arrangement includes a home gym, integrated hydrotherapy pool and new kitchen to name but a few of the major additions.
Our goal was to maintain the feeling of a sweet and cosy Sussex cottage, whilst offering modern and spacious open plan living. We feel honoured to have been part of this project. The clients have become particularly close and dear to us during this very personal and intricate journey.
Although the scheme appears as a simple woodland backed cottage fronted by equestrian fields, it conceals the latest in environmentally friendly technology: Plant fibre sustainable insulation, air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation heat recovery throughout, wildflower green roofs, underfloor heating, sun showers for both humans and horses….
Additional external components include:
New stable block and store
Hot tub
Greenhouse
Carport
New landscaping and entry gates
New fencing throughout
Treehouse with flying fox platform
“We are absolutely thrilled with our house and look forward to many happy years ahead of us here. Words don’t do justice to our appreciation of your knowledge, skills, vision, leadership, attention to detail and your ability to adapt to us.
We really do appreciate what a lovely house we have and also the stories, the craftsmanship, the use of materials, the quality of the build, everything that makes our house the special home it is and will be. Your friendly nature, thoughtfulness and helpfulness throughout all of this has been amazing and we are so grateful and appreciative for all the time and effort.”
